You may have seen Sterling Silver Studio students performing in the streets for local parades and community events. Easily recognized by the red, black and silver costumes, flaming batons, enthusiastic dancers and twirlers of all ages and of course the hand-clapping “sing & dance along” music that pumps through every parade; Sterling Silver has earned their reputation as the “Must See Performance Group” in the region.
Sterling Silver Studio was founded in 1991. Sterling Silver originally began as a baton twirling corps (hence the name “Sterling Silver”). Since its creation over 20 years ago, Sterling Silver Studio’s directors have focused on building a positive performing arts program and educational facility for the families of the Twin Ports area and adding an online dance store complete with baton twirling supplies. Over the years, Sterling Silver Studio has grown into a full performing arts school, offering classes by instructors who specialize in their field of study. The curriculum at Sterling Silver Studio includes: Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Hip Hop, Hawaiian, Tahitian, Belly Dancing, Bollywood, Zumba, Drums Alive!, Modern, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Acting, Strength and Flexibility Training, Mommy/Daddy & Me, Kindermusik, Special Needs Dance, Guitar Lessons, Ballroom Dance, Show Twirl; and of course we offer classes in the programs that Sterling Silver Studio was originally built upon: Baton Twirling, Fire Twirling and Parade Corps.
All of the programs at Sterling Silver Studio have been developed by educators, who believe in the fundamentals of that which they teach. The performance side of Sterling Silver Studio is directed by professionals who understand the importance of performing as tool for education, exploration and growth for everyone involved. Performing is always optional, and is available for everyone involved with any program that Sterling Silver Studio has to offer.
We believe in family, we believe in community. As a parent with a child involved with Sterling Silver Studio, we encourage your involvement. Sterling Silver Studio is a family oriented performing arts school. Involvement is encouraged by volunteer opportunities with all of our shows and events; we even offer special child/parent performance numbers that allow parents to learn and get involved with what their kids enjoy. Sterling Silver Studio is affiliated with a non-profit organization that creates fund-raising opportunities, scholarship programs, assists in designing events and more! Anyone with an interest in building a positive performing arts community is welcome to get involved.
